The Wedding

Introducing
Dr. and Mrs. Routsong

Married November 30, 2007

Sacramento LDS Temple

What a great day! Before we were sealed (married), Jeff and I sat in the celestial room together spending our last few moments as single people. Jeff won't admit it, but I think he started to get a little nervous because he got all hot and had to have some water brought to him :-)! As we walked into the sealing room we saw all our friends and family together which was such a beatiful moment. The sealer gave a spiritual message about the sacred meaning of the words in the covenant and had us gaze into the mirrors at each other. Before we knew it, we were married!

The reception was perfect. We loved the flaminco guitar player we chose and the food was great even though we didn't eat much ourselves.

We got a great shot with all the Kids!

I didn't even taste my cake, how sad is that?

Point Reyes

I give Jeff all the credit for creating our blog. He's done a really nice job and so now it's my turn to give this a try. Anyhow, we went to Point Reyes a couple weeks ago to escape the fog and go on a hike. I had gone there many times while living in Sacramento, but have never taken the opportunity until now to go while living closer. We took a trail that led us to several waterfalls cascading into the ocean. When we got to the edge of the cliff and gazed out, we noticed all these birds surrounding an object that looked like a big rock. However, after staring for a bit longer, we realized that the birds were pecking at this object. Our curiosity took over us so we found a way down the cliff and made our way over. As we neared, an overwhelming stench caused us to pull our shirts up over our noses, yet we trekked on. What we found was a large mass of blubber and one bone. Our guess is that it was a very old beached whale. We looked around and noticed that we had the beach to ourselves, so we decided to take a 'lovers walk'. The smart thing would have been to walk up-wind from the blubber...but we aren't always so smart. We only lasted a few minutes and had to go running back up the cliff for some fresh air. Here is what we saw...

I'm plugging my nose, but a picture just doesn't seem to give it justice!

A Very Nacho Halloween

I am never usually the first to get excited about dressing up for Halloween. However, this year we were invited to a party where everyone dresses up as a couple theme. We knew we had to think of something good. So this is what we came up with, most of which Jeff and I sewed ourselves....

Here's Jeff bobbing for apples. He almost drowned with the mask on that he refused to take off.

How to Get Engaged

We left early one Saturday morning in September and drove to Napa where we went on a hot air baloon ride. It was so cold that they had to turn on the fans so the grapes wouldn't freeze. To stay warm we all gathered around the fire burners that were heating up the balloons.
Kristy and I went up with this other couple that was there because the girl was taking her boyfriend for a surprise on his birthday. I made special arrangements with the Ballooner, who was a really interesting guy, to give me a chance to propose.
Kristy was really excited, but she really didn't know what to say. It turns out she kinda knew I was gonna propose, because of how nervous I was acting. We had a lot of fun. Napa is so beautiful from up in a balloon. The other couple that was with us were the first to congratulate us and the girl even got tears in her eyes when she found out I had proposed. I'm just glad that ring is on Kristy's finger now and its out of my hands! We highly recommend Napa Valley Drifters as a ballooning host. They are really great. They even hooked us up with some complimentary sparkling cider and wine glasses with "the ballooners' poem" sandblasted on them.
